Our kids did really well in Bethel this weekend and we got a lot of positive feedback from coaches. What other coaches said about them. “You’ve built a program that kids want to be a part of and they’re doing awesome. You’ve got a great team out there.” “Your kids are so respectful. I told my team to watch how your kids wrestle. We need to mirror that.” “Y’all are always helpful and clean up. You never give anyone any problems and your kids are always cleaning up others trash when I see them.” Frederick got first place. Pinned 5 people to get there. Kaysie got first place and had the match of the tournament. Maisyn got 2nd, had a tough championship match. Tiare beat two state placers and got 3rd, but technically it should have been 1st place. Trew dominated and got 3rd. William, Kelena, and Karissa got 3rd too.

Good Day All. After meeting with the all of the boat captains today, the coastal trip has been canceled due to wind, waves and no tide at the coast for the foreseeable future. By the time everything calms down and the tides come back, it will be too cold and the ice will be an issue. As disappointed as I am about this, I realize the safety of the kids is first. Next year, we will plan the coastal trip before the moose trip in late August or early September as recommended by the boat captains.

Good afternoon. Reminder, HS coastal trip meeting today at 6pm in the elementary school gym. There will be a Pitkas bus at 5:45pm and will return after the meeting is over. If you want to be a boat captain and bring your own boat, we will buy your gas. See you at 6pm.

Good day everyone. Due to forecasted weather concerns, we will be postponing the high school coastal trip to the week of Oct. 13-16. We will now have our trip meeting for kids and guardians at 6pm, Tuesday, Oct. 7. Additionally, for anyone that wants to be a boat captain, we pay for all of your gas. See you then.

PowerSchool Upgrade for SMCSD

Please be advised that tomorrow, Wednesday, March 12, school will dismiss at 2:45 PM, 15 minutes earlier than usual. This early dismissal will allow staff adequate time to participate in AK STAR state testing training.

As we “spring forward” this weekend with daylight saving time, we encourage everyone to adjust schedules accordingly to ensure students are well-rested and ready for learning. The time change can take some getting used to, so maintaining a consistent bedtime and morning routine will help with the transition. With just a few months left in the school year, we want to remind our students to stay focused, stay engaged, and finish strong! Your support at home—encouraging good study habits, regular attendance, and a positive attitude—makes a big difference in their success. Thank you for your continued partnership. Let’s make these last months of the school year the best yet!
