St. Mary's City School District has a total student population of 170 in grades preschool through 12th grade. There are two schools located in St. Mary's, a preschool-6 Elementary school and a 7-12 Jr./Sr. High School.
St. Mary's is located 450 air miles northwest of Anchorage. The city overlooks the beautiful Andreafski River, just upriver from the mighty Yukon River.
The City of St. Mary's is a western regional hub which has a modern sub regional health clinic and daily flights to Anchorage.
Approximately 95% of the population is Yup'ik Eskimo. St. Mary's is a community that maintains a fishing and subsistence lifestyle.
A 22-mile road links St. Mary's to Pitkas Point, and Mountain Village during the summer months.
